Located in the Upper East Side, NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center serves as one of the major rotation hubs for our residency.

It is a Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, and a designated STEMI and Stroke Center. NYPH/WCMC is also home to the largest burn center in the country, the William Randolph Hearst Burn Center, and holds affiliations with the Hospital for Special Surgery and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

NYYPH/WCMC’s world class tertiary care serves not just the local community, but also draws patients from across the country and around the world seeking specialized care.

Located in the Washington Heights, NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center serves as the other major rotation hub for our residents.

NYPH/CUMC is a major quaternary care referral center, and is a designated Level 2 Adult Trauma Center, STEMI-receiving facility, and Stroke Center. It is affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, one of the best pediatric hospitals in the country and a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.

NYYPH/CUMC’s ED is a high-volume, high-acuity facility that provides specialized care to patients from across the country, but also serves an important role as a safety net hospital for the local community. At this location, a majority of the surrounding patient population is medically underserved and largely Spanish-speaking.

CHONY serves as the primary pediatric rotation site for our residents during their junior years, encompassing the foundational pediatric EM knowledge and pediatric ICU experiences. CHONY is also the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Manhattan, wherein the ED sees approximately 50,000 visits per year.

NewYork-Presbyterian has multiple affiliated community Emergency Departments that welcome resident rotators. They include NYP-Lower Manhattan Hospital (located on Gold & Beekman St), NYP-Allen Hospital (located in Inwood), and NYP-Westchester (located in Bronxville).

The community sites are available for elective rotations or moonlighting shifts for senior residents. PGY1 and PGY3 residents will rotate in the Labory & Delivery Department of the NYP-Allen Hospital for their Obstetrics rotation.

These sites provide a valuable alternative experience from our main academic tertiary-care center sites.

Senior residents who are interested in global health have the opportunity to rotate in the emergency department at Weill Cornell Bugando in Tanzania. Weill Bugando is located within the Bugando Medical Centre in Mwanza. Mwanza, the second largest city in Tanzania, is located on the shores of Lake Victoria and is the capital of the Lake and Western regions. Interested EM residents are provided with flight, housing, and food for the duration of their rotation.
